Ingrown Toenail Treatment
Conservative care or nail surgery β same-day treatment where possible
An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, swelling, and sometimes infection. The big toe is most commonly affected, though any toe can be involved.
Left untreated, an ingrown toenail can become infected, leading to increased pain, discharge, and significant discomfort when walking. Early treatment is always recommended.
At your initial consultation, Ewa will thoroughly assess the affected nail and surrounding tissue. She will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and the best course of action β whether that is conservative treatment, or nail surgery for more severe or recurrent cases.
For straightforward cases, treatment may be completed during the same visit. Where surgery is required, a separate appointment will be arranged at a time that suits you.
Where conservative treatment is not sufficient, Ewa offers nail surgery under local anaesthetic. The procedure involves removing the problematic portion of the nail, and in some cases a minor chemical procedure is used to prevent regrowth of that section. This is a highly effective, long-term solution.
Full aftercare instructions are provided following any procedure, and Ewa is available for follow-up if needed.
All new patients begin with an Initial Consultation (Β£57).
This includes a full assessment and treatment where possible. The cost of any further procedures will be confirmed and agreed before going ahead.
